UC24 (Community) Services

Urgent Care 24 is continuing its commitment to support the development of healthcare by further strengthening our relationships with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). Our aim is to offer better access to high quality services that are closer to home and care is patient centred – all aspects of health are integrated and seamless from the patient’s perspective.      

Knowsley Primary care service:

Urgent Care 24 has been commissioned by Knowsley CCG to ensure that any Knowsley registered patient requiring GP input will have “same day” access to a high quality service delivered in the community thereby reducing avoidable AED attendances.

Urgent Care 24 Primary care service is delivered from four sites across Knowsley, Nutgrove Villa in Huyton, St Chads in Kirkby, Halewood primary care resource centre and Whiston primary care resource centre. The service is operational Monday to Friday from 08:00 – 20:00 hrs offering same day GP appointments.

Intermediate Care Service:

Knowsley Intermediate Care Service is an integrated community bed based service jointly commissioned by NHS KCCG and KMBC.

Urgent Care 24 provides medical provision to 34 community intermediate care beds within two identified nursing and residential homes within the Knowsley Borough.

A regular team of associate doctors provide the clinical lead and continuity working with other services to meet the holistic needs of the patients.


We continue to work closely with North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) providing the Pathfinder service for three Clinical Commissioning Groups Liverpool, Knowsley and Halton where two GPs provide 16 hours of clinical support.

Alder Hey

Urgent Care 24 has been commissioned by Liverpool CCG to provide additional Clinical support to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Urgent Care 24 supports the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital by providing a primary care service for patients presenting with primary care needs in the A&E department resulting in a shorter waiting time for patients in the A&E department.

The service has been well received and supported by both commissioners and A&E staff. It is hoped that this service will reduce A&E attendances at Alder Hey.
